Students can receive payments of between 3.000 € and 30.000 € with Deutsche Bildung student financing and combine them with other sources of funding. Study financing can be used for the entire study programme or for individual phases, such as semesters abroad or the final phase.

 

 

 

Scholarships

PROMOS - DAAD funding for 2024

Target group

Promoting the mobility of regular full-time students (Master's/Bachelor's)

Target country

The scholarships are awarded for study-related stays (study and internship) in Asia, Africa, Australia or (Latin) America.

Subject of funding 

Partial scholarships or travel allowances for internships and studies abroad in the amount of the applicable country-specific scholarship rates and travel allowances of the DAAD

Application deadlines

PROMOS is announced twice a year; once for stays in the summer semester and once for stays in the winter semester. 

For stays in the summer semester: 28 February of the year of stay

For stays in the WS: 15 July of the year of stay

Travel grants of the Free State of Bavaria

Target group

Funding for German students who have completed a study semester at a host university or a compulsory internship outside Europe in the summer semester 2024 and/or winter semester 2024/25. International students can only be funded if the stay abroad serves their study progress at the THI.

In the call for applications you will find all information including an overview of the documents to be submitted. Please download the application form and the confirmation of self-financing (only for trainees!).

Target country

The stay must take place outside Europe. For a stay abroad in the Erasmus area, the travel grant can only be applied for if funding via Erasmus is excluded.

Subject of funding

  • Travel grant verifiable by ticket invoice; maximum grant 500 € each for outward and return flight
  • All-inclusive stay depending on country group (see invitation to tender) for 3 months

Application deadline

The travel grant is only advertised once a year. The application deadline for stays abroad in the summer semester 2024 and/or winter semester 2024/25 is 22 May to 15 June retroactively for stays in the summer semester of the same year and in advance for the winter semester of the same year.

ERASMUS - The EU's higher education programme

Target group

Promoting student mobility (theory semester and internship), as well as staff and lecturer exchanges

Target country

The partner university of the home university or host company is located in an EU member state, 
or in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland or Norway, as well as in Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

Subject of funding 

  • 3- to 12-month study period abroad or 2- to 12-month internship abroad
  • 2 days - 6 weeks for staff or lecturer mobility

Application deadline

Theory Semester:

A separate application for the Erasmus scholarship is not necessary. Every student who completes a semester of study at an Erasmus PHS receives a scholarship within the framework of the Erasmus guidelines. Detailed information can be found here

Internship:

Continuous application possible. The documents must be submitted in good time BEFORE the start of the internship. You can find detailed information here.

College Contact: Scholarships for a semester abroad as a "Free Mover"

College Contact awards 10 subject-related partial scholarships per year to students who organise their semester abroad as "free movers" through College Contact.

The scholarships are worth EUR 1,000 each and are aimed at students from the fields of engineering, art and design, economics, natural sciences, and linguistics and cultural studies.

Scholarship holders are selected independently of grades and social criteria, but purely on the basis of proven personal and professional motivation. Fulbright-Comission

Scholarship Purpose

The scholarships serve to deepen specialized studies at recognized (accredited) American universities in the U.S. at the graduate level (Master/PhD).

Target group

High-achieving German students and graduates of universities and colleges who, in addition to studying in the U.S., can actively engage in German-American cultural exchange.

  • Applications go directly to the Fulbright Commission in Berlin.
  • Fulbright-Comission: Applicants who are completing a full study program abroad or who are no longer enrolled at a German university at the time of scholarship application should send their complete application directly to the Fulbright Commission: Fulbright-Kommission, Lützowufer 26, 10787 Berlin
IEC & Deutsche Bildung AG

Together with Deutsche Bildung AG, IEC has developed a special study grant for semesters abroad. Students of all disciplines can apply for funding of between 3,000 euros and 30,000 euros for their international study visit.

Since self-organized studies are associated with higher costs, IEC offers a number of scholarships in cooperation with our partner universities.

The so-called IEC Ambassador Scholarships support students with 700 Euros for a semester abroad.

DAAD: Semester stays and final theses for students

Students in Bachelor's, Master's and Diploma programs at German HAW/FH receive scholarships in this program for a stay abroad as part of their studies or final thesis.

Scholarships

We award five scholarships worth 1,000 euros each per year to support voluntary or mandatory stays abroad lasting at least three months. It is a one-time payout.

Application deadline

Applications can be submitted from 1.1 to 31.5 of the respective calendar year. The scholarships are awarded in mid-June.

  • Travel surcharge once for outward & return journey - 250€ each for a journey within Europe, otherwise 500€ each
  • If applicable, additional benefits for the health insurance fund 
  • Country-specific foreign supplement between 60.00€ and 255.00€ per month for training outside the EU and in Switzerland

BayInd - Promotion of study visits to India

The Bavarian-Indian Centre for Business and Higher Education (BayInd) awards bi-annual scholarships for stays in India for study, internships and for writing academic papers.

Application deadline

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and applicants are notified of decisions via BayInd

Scope of funding

All scholarships are a one-time lump sum in the amount of:

  • Study: 1.300 €
  • Internships: 1.000 €
  • Scientific work: 2.000 €

Language acquisition, studies and/or internships, also in combination. Funding between 7 months and 2 years. The funding for up to two years abroad also makes it possible to attend Master's programmes completely abroad.

In addition to financial support from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation for language acquisition and a stay abroad, the Study Foundation provides a network of contacts. After returning to Germany, students who perform well will be transferred to the Study Foundation's domestic sponsorship programme, which is dependent on their parents' income. Please note: The programme is not aimed at doctoral students.
